A balanced and natural-looking rhinoplasty outcome

As the central and and most prominent facial feature, the nose can draw undue attention to itself when it is oversized, misshapen or asymmetrical. Strategic rhinoplasty surgery can be performed to help balance and harmonize the nose with the rest of the face, leading to a more aesthetically pleasing appearance as well as improved breathing. Dr. Ardesh is a masterful double board certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who specializes in a customized rhinoplasty approach with natural, nuanced results.

What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as a nose job, is performed roughly a million times per year in the United States. The surgery can help refine bumps in the nasal bridge, reshape a bulbous, low-hanging tip, and correct flaring or asymmetrical nostrils. If you have undergone an injury or you suffer from a birth defect, or nasal trauma, rhinoplasty can also be a vital tool for revitalizing and repairing your appearance.

While cosmetic rhinoplasty focuses on revealing a more youthful and engaging physical appearance, it also has the added side benefit of improving your air passageways so you can breathe better and sleep better.

What is revision rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty is called for when a primary rhinoplasty did not meet the patient's original goals, by either going too far and removing too much bone and cartilage, or not going far enough and removing too little.

Revision techniques require world class precision and artistry, as there is much attendant scar tissue left behind after the primary surgery. Dr. Ardesh is an accomplished double board-certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who has achieved mastery over this highly sought-after type of rhinoplasty. During revision rhinoplasty he can help you to feel confident and secure in how you look once more.

What is ethnic rhinoplasty?

Clients of African, Asian, Middle Eastern, Native American and Hispanic/Latinx heritage may have concerns about the mostly westernized plastic surgery results they see online. Rest assured, Dr. Ardesh will take the utmost care to preserve your cultural and ethnic heritage. He understands the subtle nuances and idiosyncrasies that make each individual unique. The goal of ethnic rhinoplasty is to minimize cosmetic flaws while celebrating your innate attractiveness and aesthetic assets.

What is the difference between open and closed rhinoplasty?

During closed rhinoplasty Dr. Ardesh will create incisions within the nostrils where they are completely hidden from view. While this scarless technique is a huge benefit, the downside of this type of surgery is that it is only appropriate for those who require minor or subtle changes in their nasal anatomy.

Open rhinoplasty involves creating a small incision at the base of the nose across the columella, which is that thin strip of skin that separates the nostrils. This incision is tiny enough said it can be well hidden and unnoticeable after surgery. The doctor will pull the skin back to reveal the intricate structures of the nose, and he will then be able to make significant changes to the bridge, tip and nostrils.

What is Dr. Ardesh’s approach to rhinoplasty?

Dr. Ardesh performs customized rhinoplasty, meaning every procedure is tailored individually to your specific goals. During surgery, Dr. Ardesh may remove excess cartilage and bone to help refine and contour the nasal scaffolding. If the client is seeking improved definition in the nose, Dr. Ardesh may employ cartilage grafting. A hump on the bridge may be reduced, and the nostrils may be reshaped. The total time for surgery is typically about 4 hours.

What are the advantages of rhinoplasty?

  • Improved breathing
  • Correction of nasal asymmetry
  • Refinement and contouring of the nasal bridge, tip and nostrils
  • A more youthful, attractive appearance
  • A nose that is better suited to your face as a whole
  • Enhanced personal confidence in how you look
  • Long lasting results
  • Natural, seamless outcome

Who makes the best candidate for rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty can be performed on any patient who is frustrated and unhappy with the size, shape or projection of their nose. Younger patients can undergo rhinoplasty as teenagers provided that their nose has completely finished growing.

The requirements for undergoing surgery of any kind are that you are healthy, both mentally and physically; you are free from any major medical concerns or conditions; you are a non-smoker, or you are willing to quit before and after surgery; and you are realistic in what you hope your rhinoplasty can accomplish in terms of altering your appearance. Remember that rhinoplasty is an amazing tool for harmonizing your nose with the rest of your facial features, but it cannot make you look like a celebrity or another person altogether.

What will my recovery entail?

Your healing and recovery will begin right away after you wake up in the recovery room. You will receive packing and a splint for your nose as well as prescriptions for painkillers. Dr. Ardesh will make sure that you also receive anti-nausea medication as well as antibiotics to help ward off any postoperative infection.

The splint will be removed after 1 week and replaced with a taped dressing. Bruising and swelling will be noticeable, but these symptoms will gradually subside over the course of several months, with all residual swelling completely disappearing after 1 year. Dr. Ardesh will provide you with a detailed aftercare plan that includes instructions for showering, sleeping, eating, exercising and returning to work.

What are the costs for rhinoplasty?

Fees for rhinoplasty will be based on facility costs, anesthesia costs and surgeon’s costs, among others. Dr. Ardesh will be able to give you an in-depth quote at the time of your private consultation, after he performs a thorough physical evaluation and review of your medical history. If needed, our office will provide applications for financing from a variety of reputable healthcare lenders.
