What is a Facelift?

As we age, the facial appearance can begin to change. This is due to a loss of collagen, a reduction in fat volume, and limited elasticity of the skin. What's left are sagging or hollowed features as the contours of the face show less definition and jowls, vertical neck bands, and loose skin start to become more apparent. The solution for dealing with these problems is facelift surgery. This type of surgical procedure can bring about a more youthful aesthetic at the face and neck.

Am I a Candidate for Facelift Surgery?

It's possible, but first you must meet certain criteria that will determine if plastic surgery is a good option to rejuvenate your skin for a younger appearance. If the answer to these four questions is “yes”, then you may be a candidate for facelift surgery:

  • Are you in good general health?
  • Does your facial skin continue to demonstrate flexibility and elasticity?
  • Does your underlying bone structure remain aesthetically balanced?
  • Do you want a refreshed facial appearance that looks natural?

What Results Can I Expect from a Facelift?

Facelift surgery in West Hollywood involves the tightening of the skin from the cheekbones to the collar-bone to help bring definition and tone back to the face and neck; The surgery works to restore healthy glow to the cheeks, the jawline, and the neck skin all at once. But some patients may only need work performed in only one of these areas instead of all three at the same time. The procedure can be applied to the areas that need it most, without having work done on all three.

Call our office today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ardesh to find out how the best mini facelift in West Hollywood can restore your youthful appearance.

Facelift surgery can typically last from two to five hours depending on how much work needs to be performed on the face and neck. The patient may be given general anesthesia or conscious sedation during the operation.

Each incision is tailored specifically for the patient based on the particular procedure and how much work is needed to restore the skin. The incisions are made close to the ears where the natural creases of the skin in those locations are ideal for concealing the incisions after they have healed completely.

The process itself is relatively straightforward, as the incisions are made the skin and connective tissues are raised up from the bone structures and relocated back to the bone to leave the patient with a rejuvenated, youthful facial appearance that looks natural.

Once the work is complete, all excess skin is removed and the incisions closed using absorbable sutures.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM RECOVERY AFTER A FACELIFT SURGICAL PROCEDURE?

The recovery phase of your surgery begins when Dr. Ardesh applies bandages to the incisions. These will help to reduce swelling, though you may still notice the operation site is swollen and bruised right after the surgery. This is normal and should start to subside after a couple of days. Dr. Ardesh will recommend you keep the head elevated when you sleep as this will help to expedite the healing process.

After a day or two, Dr. Ardesh will remove the bandages and you can return to work and other normal activities in about 10 to 14 days.

WILL A FACELIFT REDUCE THE APPEARANCE OF LINES IN THE FOREHEAD AND AROUND THE EYES?

The healing time after a mole removal typically only takes up to two weeks or less. Downtime is very minimal and most patients can return to their activities immediately following treatment.
