Mole Removal SURGEON Manhattan Beach
Moles are very common and are known as abnormal growths in the skin. In fact, most people have anywhere between 10 to 40 moles on their body according to the American Academy of Dermatology. While many moles are harmless, people sometimes choose to get their moles removed for cosmetic reasons, or if a mole is irritating their skin. However, sometimes moles can become cancerous or have the potential of becoming cancerous, in which case people will choose to have them removed.
Dr. Ardesh and his team are highly experienced with mole removal in Manhattan Beach and can assist with your cosmetic and pre-cancerous concerns.
Types of Moles
Moles come in many different shapes and sizes. There are flat moles, raised moles, and pre-cancerous moles. Flat moles are often dark spots on the skin and are typically small. Raised moles can be small or large, a light or darker color, and often extend beneath the surface of the skin. Both flat and raised moles can have a variety of textures. Some individuals do not like the appearance of the moles on their skin and therefore decide to have them removed, especially when located on the face or neck.
Pre-cancerous moles are more serious. These types of moles frequently change in size, shape, and color. Sometimes they will bleed. If you experience any of these things with a mole you should immediately have the mole inspected by your dermatologist. They will examine the ABCDEs of the mole, which stands for Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter, and Evolution.

What To Expect with Your Mole Removal
Before
During your consultation, Dr. Ardesh and his team will evaluate your moles and listen to your concerns. They will then provide you with a specific treatment plan and if they recommend removing the mole, they will explain the specific procedure and answer any questions you might have.
During
The type of procedure you have done for your mole removal will depend on the specific type of mole. Most procedures take less than 1 hour and are very simple procedures.
A local anesthetic is always applied to the area in order to make the procedure as comfortable for you as possible. If the mole is primarily on top of the skin, it is considered to be superficial and can be shaved off. If the mole extends beneath the skin, Dr. Ardesh will use a laser to remove the mole. Depending on the depth of the mole, laser treatment might need to be applied over the course of several treatments.
If shaving or laser treatment is not an option, Dr. Ardesh and his team will surgically remove the mole.
Again, each of these treatments is very straightforward and requires little to no downtime.
After
Patients often recover very quickly (within two weeks) from mole removal with Dr. Ardesh and his team. It’s recommended that you apply sunscreen to the area following the mole removal to protect the skin and to promote further healing.
