What are facial implants?
Facial implants are used to bring balance to the face. They are made of specially formed solid materials compatible with human tissues and designed for augmenting the physical structure of the face. Although the chin, cheeks, and jaw are the most common sites, any area of the face can be enhanced with facial implants.
Am I a good candidate for facial implants?
The face loses volume over time, which can lead to a sunken or hollow appearance. Implants can restore volume to areas that are recessed or lacking in contour. You may be a good candidate for facial implants if you want to:
- Augment a small chin
- Revitalize a flat midface region
- Fill out sunken temples
- Strengthen and fill out the jawline
- Add volume to the lips

What is the recovery like after facial implants?
Bandages or dressing may be applied after the procedure to support the position of the implant during the initial healing phase. Discomfort is usually minimal and easily controlled with cold compresses or pain medications.
You will need to sleep with your head elevated, face up, for one to two weeks after surgery to help minimize swelling. You may also need to maintain a liquid diet for the first few days. You should be able to return to work within a week after the procedure.
